GoldenJackal is a cyberespionage group that targets government and diplomatic entities in Europe, the Middle East, and South Asia. Active since at least 2019, the group is little known and has only been publicly described once, by Kaspersky, in 2023.

In 2024, we observed GoldenJackal actively deploying a new, highly modular toolset in a government organization in Europe, with the group going to great lengths to conceal its activities and hide the true origin of the attacks. In this session, we will publicly describe GoldenJackal’s new tools for the first time, hopefully guiding other researchers to uncover more pieces of the puzzle.

Malware Researcher, ESET

Mattias Parolli was born and raised in Argentina, Matias is a malware researcher on the ESET Threat Intelligence team in Canada. He divides his time between tracking APT groups and reverse engineering their malware. Before moving to Canada, he worked for ESET in their Buenos Aires office. His interests include studying exploitation in the Windows environment, crackmes, CTFs and C programming.
