State of play of EU cybersecurity policy and future outlook

The 18th October marked a significant milestone in the EU cybersecurity policy – the NIS2 Directive has reached its deadline for national transposition. Although so far implemented only by a handful of countries, the rules will eventually become obligatory across the EU. This session will provide an occasion to discuss both legal and practical steps, which the affected entities must take to comply not only with NIS2, but also the upcoming Cyber Resilience Act as well as potential future rules under the new European Commission.

Senior Manager for Cyber & Cloud, Digital Europe

Rita Jonušaitė has been in Brussels since 2017, working at Flint Global advising clients on EU policy and regulatory developments, with a particular focus on digital technology. Rita also led the policy and advocacy activities of a Brussels-based NGO working on tackling disinformation, with a specific focus on hybrid-attacks, platform regulation, and media policy. She previously gained Brussels public affairs experience in another European NGO. Before arriving in Brussels, she worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania in the international organisations department. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in political science and a Master’s degree in international communications. She is currently pursuing an LLM in IP and ICT Law at the KU Leuven University in Belgium.
