Universities and Research Organizations thrive on international collaboration for research and development. However, this collaboration inevitably creates inherent risks and challenges. This presentation will highlight the key risks to research security in Higher Education Institutions and Research Organizations. We will focus on cyber-related threats and the tactics employed by foreign state actors to interfere with research activities. Additionally, we will outline the challenges of securing intellectual property (IP) in this context and provide updates on the latest policy developments in the UK and EU.
