Through recent case studies, including a destructive attack against critical infrastructure and cyberespionage campaigns affecting multiple European countries, we will explore how state-sponsored groups pursue their objectives, how their tactics continue to evolve, and what these developments reveal about the broader geopolitical environment.

Drawing on ESET's threat intelligence research and incident investigations, the session will focus on both Russia-aligned and China-aligned operations targeting European entities, discuss the challenges of attribution, and highlight the trends that organizations across Europe should be watching closely in the months ahead.

Principal Malware Researcher, ESET

Robert Lipovsky is a Principal Malware Researcher for ESET, with over 15 years' experience in cybersecurity and a broad spectrum of expertise covering targeted APTs, crimeware, as well as vulnerability research. He is responsible for threat intelligence and malware analysis and leads the Malware Research Team at ESET headquarters in Bratislava.

He is a regular speaker at security conferences, including Black Hat USA, RSA Conference, Virus Bulletin, BlueHat, Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit, and various NATO-organized conferences. He also teaches reverse engineering at the Slovak University of Technology – his alma mater – and at Comenius University.

When not bound to a keyboard, he enjoys traveling, playing guitar and flying single-engine airplanes.

In the case of discrepancies between the language versions the English version shall always prevail as the English version is deemed original.
