The rise of Artificial intelligence into the public sphere with technologies such as ChatGPT that can answer natural language queries in detail, and even write code based on prompts, along with voice replication (VALL-E), video editing (Runway Gen-2) and image generation (DALL-E, Stable Diffusion, Midjourney etc), among others, presents not only a new world of creative opportunities, but a rich infrastructure for hostile actors to take advantage of in perpetrating cyber-attacks, cohesive spear-phishing campaigns, fake or doctored speech and video for disinformation propaganda, and many more. This panel of multi-disciplinary experts will focus on the current state of the art, how the models work, and how they can be safeguarded from the potential misuse cases, as well as talk about what might be needed in terms of regulation and controls, and how we can defend against the sort of cyberattacks that future AI technologies could enable”

Nikolas Ott is a Government Affairs Manager for Cybersecurity Policy and Digital Diplomacy at Microsoft European Government Affairs (EGA). His portfolio includes cyber diplomacy, cyber threat intelligence, cyber defense policy, foreign and security policy and cyber capacity building. Previously, he worked in the cyber/ICT security team of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). He is an alumnus of the Mercator Fellowship of International Affairs and the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. He holds a M.A. in Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy (Tufts University) and B.A. in Political Science from the Freie Universität Berlin.

Jakub Debski has over 20 years of professional experience in IT security with the last 16 years at ESET. He has held several roles, such as reverse engineer, developer, managing director of ESET Poland, and Head of Core Technology Development. He now holds the position of Chief Product Officer and is responsible for planning and overseeing life-cycle of all ESET products. Jakub is additionally interested in applied security, security technologies and augmentation of security with reputation systems and machine learning.

Katarina Mayer has joined ESET in 2018. She has worked as a machine learning researcher with the Automated Analysis, Threat Detection and Machine Learning team. She’s regularly presenting ESET’s applied research findings at international conferences. Her research interests include machine vision, probabilistic & causal modeling, and complex systems. Previously, she had worked at various positions as an independent researcher & data analyst, and as a lecturer of statistics at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul, South Korea.
